HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE 50 AND OVER ?

Your response to this could swing either way. On the one hand you may be looking and feeling good, have plenty of energy and generally looking forward to entering your golden years with enthusiasm.

On the other hand you might already receive medication for one or more chronic conditions, be low in energy, experience joint pain, suffer from depression and generally not enjoying life.

Although I was never been athletically inclined (I preferred dancing to hockey), the thing I really miss about aging is not being able to RUN like the wind ! (the nearest I get to it is a sedate slow trot!)

Be that as it may, we all have to face the inevitable aging process, and if we can make some necessary lifestyle changes, chances are good we’ll enjoy many healthy years ahead.

A quick search on Google for the main ailments faced by over 50’s are :

🦋 High blood pressure, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Type 2 diabetes and

🦋 Heart disease.

Over time I would like to address each in turn. Certainly the most comments and enquirers I get are about Osteoporosis, perhaps because it’s something that’s relatively easy to rectify with appropriate exercise. However all the other ailments mentioned above can be turned around if you don’t leave it too long.

Appropriate exercise is vital for wellbeing and with dietary adjustments we can regain a lot of our vitality and good health. The other two important factors are our social interactions, including our relationships, and lastly our attitude towards spirituality.

FOR NOW SOME MORE WISE WORDS FROM JOSHUA ROSENTHAL :

Health is the best wealth possible!

Love yourself enough to have a good life

Eating well changes your consciousness

Health is a vehicle, not a destination

And my personal yogic quote:

Everything that happens to you is your teacher.

The secret is to learn to sit at the feet

Of your own life

And be taught by it
